The Power of Your Heart to Heal
Your Body and Mind

By Paul Bauer

Life can be hectic, especially in the busy pace of today’s world. The daily stress that we encounter doesn’t always go away as quickly as we would like. For most of us, it slowly builds in the background until something triggers you and you either become overwhelmed, feel angry, anxious, depressed or other negative emotions.

How You Handle Stress

Since literally every human being feels stress, it’s how you handle that stress determines whether it hurts you or helps you. A recent study of over 180,000 people shed light on something incredibly important. The people who believed that stress was a good thing lived longer and were healthier (and happier) than the people who believed that stress was “bad“ for them.

That study shook up the world of psychology and wellness. Initially it met with skepticism but the more that psychologists and therapists began to open their minds to the possibility that it was true, they began to see their patients heal faster and have more happiness in their lives.

Could it be that simple? Could one belief change your longevity and quality of life in a significant way? The answer is yes. But that’s easier said than done for most of us.

90% of Doctor’s Visits Are Stress Related

The American Institute of Stress has reported that up to 90% of doctor’s visits are stress related. The HRV of a patient gives us a full readout in terms of health, medical diagnosis and treatment options that will bring a person back to harmony and health. In essence, the Heart knows what is going on in the body. In fact, it feels and knows our emotions before our minds do. HRV can provide information to users about situations where their stress and anxiety levels may be higher than normal.

The Power of HRV

Back in 1960, cardiologists and researchers wanted a better way to measure the energy of the Heart. In addition to measuring the pulse, the field of HRV (Heart Rate Variability) was created to measure the full wave of energy (not just the beat). Every heartbeat's full wave (and the distance between each wave) is measured.

HRV has become a leading indicator of our health and longevity. 50 years later, sports teams use it to get that “extra edge“ in their athletic performance. And of course it’s used in the medical field to help patients understand the nature and quality of their Heartwaves.

But for most people, measuring their HRV is expensive and time consuming.

The Heart Resonance Breakthrough

After studying the field of HRV for over 14 years, my team and I came up with a simpler way to measure your HRV. It’s called HRS (Heart Resonance Score). HRS Is a simple index from 1 to 10 that anyone can measure in a matter of one minute to determine their stress level and their level of Heart/mind energy balance.

In other words, instead of wondering about metrics like RMSS, SDNN and PNN 50, Your interest score is the composite of those complicated HRV metrics. So simple that you could teach it to a sixth grader.

Vagal Tone And The Power of the Autonomic Nervous System

Our bodies are regulated by something called the ANS (Autonomic Nervous System). The ANS regulates all the systems of your body. Heart rate, blood circulation, respiration, digestion, elimination, etc. When we are overstressed, the Sympathetic Nervous System (SNS) kicks in and we feel what is known as the “fight or flight“ response.

A little bit of fighter flight it’s OK it won’t affect your health adversely. But chronic stress otherwise known as "Sympathetic Dominance" negatively affects every part of your life. It’s like a teacher having more than 30 students who are all acting out at the same time. It simply becomes unmanageable. Breaking out of sympathetic dominance can be difficult for some because it’s an ingrained behavior.
